Working With an SEO Agency in Dubai: What to Expect in the First 90 Days

Hiring an SEO agency in Dubai is a commitment measured in months, not days. That is exactly why the first 90 days matter so much: they are the window in which a good agency lays the foundations that produce rankings in month four, five and six, and in which a weak agency produces reports that look busy while nothing changes.
This article walks through what should happen in each of the first three months of an SEO engagement, what you should see in the reports, what you will need to provide, and the signals that tell you whether the agency is worth keeping. It is written for Dubai and UAE businesses specifically, because the market has a few quirks (bilingual search, .ae versus .com, Google Maps competition in dense areas like Deira, Al Qusais and Business Bay) that generic advice ignores.

Before day one: what a serious SEO agency asks for
The engagement starts before the contract is signed. A credible SEO agency will ask for read access to Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4, a look at your Google Business Profile, your current keyword targets if you have them, and a list of the services or products that actually make you money. It will also ask who your real competitors are online, which is often not the same list as your competitors on the ground.
If an agency quotes a price and a “package” without any of this, the proposal was written for everyone and therefore for no one. Our guide on SEO and AI-optimisation costs explains why pricing should follow scope, not the other way round.
Days 1 to 30: audit, foundations and quick wins
Week 1: access, tracking and baseline
The first week is administrative but essential. The agency gets access to Search Console, GA4, the website CMS and hosting, and your Google Business Profile. It records a baseline: current rankings for your target keywords, organic traffic by page, indexed pages, Core Web Vitals and the number of leads organic search produced last month. Without this baseline, nobody can prove progress later, so insist on seeing it in writing.
Week 2: technical SEO audit
A full crawl of the site reveals broken links, redirect chains, duplicate titles, missing or multiple H1 tags, thin pages, slow templates and indexing problems. In our experience most Dubai business websites built on WordPress or Shopify carry years of these issues from previous agencies. The audit is turned into a prioritised fix list; the agency should fix what it can itself and brief your developer on the rest. Our technical SEO checklist shows what a thorough audit covers.
Week 3: keyword research and page mapping
Keyword research in the UAE has a layer most markets do not: language. Searches happen in English, in Arabic and in a mix of both, and the volumes differ by emirate. The agency should produce a keyword map that assigns each target term to one page on your site, flags the pages that need to be created, and notes which terms are worth targeting in Arabic. Expect a sensible number of priority keywords, usually 20 to 50 for an SME, not a list of 500 that nobody will act on.
Week 4: on-page fixes and quick wins
By the end of month one the agency should have rewritten titles and meta descriptions on your most important pages, fixed heading structure, improved internal linking, and submitted the corrected sitemap to Google. It should also have claimed and optimised your Google Business Profile with correct categories, services and photos, because for most Dubai service businesses the map pack is where local customers click first. Read more in our guide to ranking on Google Maps with local SEO.
Days 31 to 60: content and authority
Content that targets real searches
Month two is when the keyword map turns into pages. This usually means two things: strengthening your existing service pages so they answer the search properly (what, where, how much, why you), and publishing new content that targets questions your customers type into Google, such as costs, comparisons and “best” lists for your category. Each piece should be written for Dubai readers, with local examples, local pricing where relevant and, where it matters, an Arabic version rather than a machine translation.
Link building and digital PR
Backlinks remain one of the strongest ranking signals, and this is where cheap SEO goes wrong. Bought links from irrelevant foreign blogs can get a site penalised. A good Dubai SEO agency builds links through relevant UAE business directories, local press and industry sites, partner websites and genuinely useful content that other sites want to reference. Ask to see every link acquired, with the site and the page, in the monthly report.
Conversion tracking for organic
Rankings are a means, not the goal. By the end of month two, organic traffic should be tracked through to enquiries: form submissions, WhatsApp clicks and phone calls, attributed to the landing page that produced them. If your agency reports rankings but cannot tell you how many leads organic search produced this month, the tracking was never set up.
Days 61 to 90: measurement, iteration and scaling
By month three the early technical fixes have been recrawled, the new content is indexed and the first movements appear. What you should expect to see, and what you should not:
- Realistic: more pages indexed, more keywords appearing in the top 100 and then top 30, measurable movement on lower-competition long-tail terms, improved click-through rates on rewritten titles, and the first new organic enquiries from content.
- Not realistic: page one for the most competitive head terms in your category within 90 days, unless your site already had strong authority. Terms like “real estate agency Dubai” or “dentist Dubai” take many months of consistent work.
Month three is also when the agency should review what moved, double down on the pages and topics that are responding, and revise the plan for the next quarter. Ask for a 90-day review meeting with a written summary of what was done, what changed and what comes next. For a fuller picture of timelines, see how long SEO takes to show results.
What the monthly SEO report should contain
- Work completed that month, listed specifically (pages fixed, content published, links acquired, with URLs).
- Rankings for the agreed priority keywords, compared with the baseline and the previous month.
- Organic traffic by landing page from GA4, and Search Console clicks and impressions.
- Leads from organic search: forms, calls and WhatsApp, with the page that produced them.
- Technical health: indexing status, Core Web Vitals, errors fixed and errors outstanding.
- The plan for next month, in plain language.
What the agency needs from you
SEO stalls when approvals stall. In the first 90 days you will be asked to approve content, provide photos and proof of your work, answer questions about your services and pricing, and give your developer time to implement fixes the agency cannot make itself. Set a weekly 30-minute slot with your account manager and a 48-hour turnaround on approvals; it is the single biggest thing a client can do to speed results up.
Signs you have the right SEO partner
- They explained the baseline and the plan before asking for a 12-month commitment.
- They fixed real technical problems in month one, and you can see them in Search Console.
- The content they publish reads like it was written for your customers in Dubai, not for a keyword tool.
- Every link they build is listed, and none of them embarrass you.
- The report talks about enquiries and revenue, not only positions.
- They never promise a specific ranking by a specific date, because nobody can.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take for an SEO agency in Dubai to show results?
Technical fixes and better titles can improve click-through within weeks, and long-tail keywords often move within the first 90 days. Competitive head terms in Dubai usually take six to twelve months of consistent work. Any agency promising page one in 30 days for a competitive term is overselling.
What should an SEO agency do in the first month?
Gain access to Search Console, GA4 and your CMS, record a baseline of rankings and traffic, run a technical audit, research and map keywords to pages, fix on-page basics such as titles and headings, and optimise your Google Business Profile.
Do I need Arabic SEO in Dubai?
It depends on your customers. If a meaningful share of your buyers search in Arabic, dedicated Arabic pages written by a native speaker can open a less competitive stream of traffic. An agency should show you Arabic search volumes for your category before recommending it.
How do I know if the SEO links being built are safe?
Ask for a monthly list of every link with the site and page. Links should come from relevant UAE directories, local media, industry sites and partners. Large batches of links from unrelated foreign blogs are a warning sign and can lead to a Google penalty.
Can I pause SEO after 90 days?
You can, but rankings gained are rarely finished at 90 days and competitors keep working. Most businesses see the best return by continuing for at least six to twelve months and then reducing to a maintenance retainer once targets are met.
